I have for some time now been working on a solution for getting light and power to my train wagons without it being to visible or demanding modification to more Lego elements than absolutely necessary.
Here is the result:
The result
For this example I have used one of the DSB wagons that can be downloaded on this site.
Through some trial and error I have found that the best solution is to put the wire through
the turntable and into the wagon.
To do this I needed to modify the boogies to make room for the wires.
The brackets below is the only elements I had to modify for this wagon, to make access to the wires.
In order to make this solution independent of the direction of the wagon I put - at the bottom of the magnet og + at the top.
This only works with the magnets shown in the pictures.
Behind the buffer I added a 2x2 inverted tile to make the cobber tape stick.
On the bottom of the boogie I added the coppertape so that i dont have to hae a wire from the magnet to the turntable.
An other advantage of the copper tape is that it fits in between the elements.
In the inside of the wagon I added the copper tape to get power to the other end of the wagon and to get power to the light.
This minimizes the need for wires inside the wagon.
After a bit of soldering - here is the finished result.
